I had to head into the city during the day as I needed to collect the insurance for my new car.
Having previously learnt that the third floor was the place to go I headed straight to the two men at the end of the floor. The queue was short and the Emirati man was extremely helpful and polite.
In fact he explained quite clearly what I had to do.
First stop fill in the form. Now why no one else had bothered to tell me this previously or even explain where it was is quite frankly beyond me. I was making progress and didn’t care.
The form was filled very quickly and I returned to the man with the form and numerous duplications of ID’s etc. plus the most important piece of paper. A map showing clearly where I lived, indicating the city, section, plot number, villa number & flat number.
Him: good. Which service would you like?
Me: Well I heard that fibre has been installed and I would like 30Mbps
Him: errm, I’m not too sure if it is available – you will have to check with provisioning down stairs.
I quickly headed downstairs and found the queue for the provisioning counter. After ten minutes it was my turn.
He quickly typed in some stuff into the computer and then some more stuff followed by a couple of checks. Followed by a quick thankyou I was told to head back upstairs to the man at the end of the floor.
The man scribled some more numbers on the form and proceeded to give me a plastic card with some numbers and password on. I was now ‘in the system’
Him: you’ll be contacted within the next ten days
With a smile I thanked him and headed out.
