Fantastic news!

I got my passport back today with my residency visa. Not a bad turn around as it only took a week from the time of the medical to getting it back. That is an impressive turn around here. Some of the tales that were being told were of up to six week turnarounds.

The PRO or public relations officer works wonders in speeding up the whole process. These are generally emiratis so they know all the tricks of the trade – like queue jumping. It also has something to do with Wasta … which I will endeavour to explain in more detail some other time.

The great thing about achieving residency is that you know you have passed the aids test – which is always nice to know.
