After a couple of days returning back from Singapore, I headed to the airport to pick up little sis. After waiting for a while she appeared through customs and we hit the road.
We headed down to South Bank for lunch followed by my really brief tour of what was what, and of course a token viewing of the skyscraper I am building. We then headed up to Mount Coot-Tha – the infamous viewing point looking out over Brisbane. After the token photos we headed back into the city to see it from Kangaroo point as the sun was setting. Followed by a couple of drinks and food at the Story Bridge Hotel – another famous drinking hole situated under Story Bridge.
After an early night we were up early. It was a two hour drive to Australia Zoo and we needed to get there to see Bindi and the crocmen live. After a brief tour of some of the crocs we were then entertained by Bindi, Bob & Terri amongst others. Bindi and Bob certainly have picked up the traits of the late Great Steve Irwin. We were going to try and introduce ourselves to get an autograph for Dad – after all we are related in some convoluted way. Alas the croccodiles kept us at bay.
Wandering around the rest of the zoo we chilled out admiring some of the other strange local and slightly exotic wildlife. It’s probably the only zoo that I have been happy to spend a whole day at. Heading back to Brisbane we stopped off on Fraiser Island and played around on the beach for an hour or two. Admiring the scene as the sun slowly set. Abi could not resist the chance of building a sandcastle, and I the token hole. Heading back home in the dark we had the obligatory pizza and chilled before bed.
Monday I had to work so I left Abi to explore and do some shopping. We met up for dinner in Queen Street before heading back home. Abi had to pack for her flight to Sydney — we ALL know how long that takes!
