Road Trip – Day 12 (4200Km)

Katoomba to Sydney

Getting up early we headed out to do some more sightseeing. We decided not to go down into the valley but have a look around on our way out. We managed to find a vantage point from the other side of the Three Sisters. We then headed off to Sydney just to make sure we were not blocked out by any road closures.

The traffic was not too bad, but it took us a while to get to the hotel as the gps was struggling with all the skyscrapers.

We checked into the hotel and went to the room only to discover one bed!! A suprise especially as I booked two doubles. It was eventually resolved with two single beds as that is all they had left. After a couple of beers I headed out to get some smarter shoes and trousers as we had tickets for a club close to the Harbour bridge — a snip @ $250 each!!! (and that excluded drinks!)

We hung around the hotel for a while then headed out to the Harbour. People were everywhere. The ground was covered in people. It was at this point i was glad we bought the tickets. We ‘checked in’ and walked upstairs. The Cruise Bar is in the cruise liner terminal. The place we were in had space for 150 people so it was not busy and we had easy access to the facilities – unlike the tens of thousands strewn on the pavements below.

The night was good lots of music and a touch of dancing – girls everywhere. The fireworks were pretty impressive, but we were probably a touch too close. Not that I actually remember much!!! I can just about recall getting back to the hotel around 2am.
