Road Trip – Day 1 (1150Km)

Coffs Harbour to Nyngan

I drove down to Coffs Harbour yesterday. It takes about 5hrs and is about 400Km from Brisbane. We had a couple of drinks last night out on the town and finished relatively early.

We started out early today as it was going to be a long day. The intention was to head to Dubbo. As we were getting bored very quickly passing through many nondescript towns we decided to cut Dubbo out and head straight to Nyngan. We eventually found a decent motel and decamped. We drove 750Km today. It is in fact quite tiring as you are generally not going much faster than 110Kph (70 mph).

We went out for a stroll and like many places around it was empty and quiet. We decided to head back to the motel bar where we chatted to the staff for a couple of hours. The room was like a flash back to the Fawlty Towers hotel. Flowery prints and hideous matching decorations / sheets.. Wow it must have looked pretty Schmick* 20 years ago!

* Shmick
1. Say this in Australia to mean anything sick, cool, tight or excellent. Usually the item is new, shiny, fresh and mad bling-bling style.
2. Can also be an said to mean ‘cool’ ‘allright’ ‘OK’ or ‘yeah’ in response to a question, to show your down with it.
1. “Man that Skyline is a Schmick ride.” 2. “Hey! Schmick shirt dude.”
