Work Hard – Play less. It’s just not cricket you know!

Okay so I have been extremely busy in the last couple of months with work planning the remainder of this year and next year.

I have been working extremely hard and recovering by doing very little socially. Not too bad to say I am paying off the extraordinary amount of cash I spent setting myself up here in Australia.

That aside I am going to watch a game of cricket soon! Yep you heard correctly – CRICKET!

Now those people who know me will know that I am fond of very few sports. Rugby and motor sport to name a few. Football and cricket are definitely not on the list!!

But I have had the opportunity to go to the world famous Gabba (just down the road from where I live) and watch a game. I accepted with glee as it dawned on me that this is probably another of those great games where all you do is talk, drink, shout or cheer a bit & probably do a lot more drinking. Hence the reason I want to go.

The downside is that it will be about 30c or so.

Now granted, those of you in cooler climes will be a bit jealous of this. I however am trying to think of ways not to get burnt to a crisp or end up drinking too much that I get heat exhaustion or dehydrated. One thing that will compensate for this will be the view. (hopefully)

Apart from the cricket, there is the token game of golf the day before. The following weekend is a long weekend trip back to New Zealand, where it will be another busy time at the races or away hunting.

This then leaves some four weeks to when I fly back to the UK for Xmas. I’ll be back in the UK for a brief three weeks, included in there a couple of days in Switzerland.

On my return to Australia it will be getting extremely hot – and therefore very unpleasant 30-40c. Four weeks later i’ll be flying back out to China (where it will be freezing cold).

I then have pretty much the rest of the year planned with another eight or so trips to China. fitted in there somewhere will be the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix, Olympics maybe, and hopefully the Shanghai F1 Grand Prix.

Before you know it, it will be Xmas again. Somehow at some stage i’ll try and get a touch of respite back in NZ (maybe Easter?) We shall see.
