Pig Island

So, it’s Friday night and everyone’s away. I have the place to myself. It’s the big vote tomorrow for the new PM. As a newbie I’m unable to vote – Sweet!

There are several observations I’ve made in the last week or so:

My car doesn’t have any fog lights, unlike the UK. Not a common accessory apparently. Christchurch can get a touch foggy at times but this burns off quickly.

I saw a bus a couple of days ago that had a pushchair stuck on the front of it – again common practice. It kind of looked as though it had hit someone.

Last but not least is ‘Pig Island’ this in fact another name for the North Island. Just don’t ask me why.

Anyhow I spent the day pretty much sorting out bits of scrap so that I can make a bbq from an oil drum. Based on best practice or shall I say Henry (our friendly neighbourhood asain New Zealander on site, who is a fountain of knowledge) I am going to make an enclosed bbq that will have a hot plate, chimney & hopefully be collapsible. It’s going to be my Saturday project I think. It’s also an excuse for learning how to weld.

Apart from that? Oh I started jogging this week. Not far or long but kind of rewarding. I need to get hold of Liam and challenge him to a competition to see who can get fit first. I’m certainly intending to be, by summer.

I’ve pretty much spent the rest of the week sorting out my ever disconnecting wireless router and my own mail servers for my web site. Both of which I think I achieved.
