Time Flys …..

Well as you can guess I don’t appear to update this blog to often. In fact I was quite surprised that it was nearly a month since I have written one. I guess the long hours I work and the exercise I do now in the evenings leaves little time. Either that or I am having too much fun? :-)

May hit us with a bang. It has suddenly got colder (although up here in Mt Maunganui I’m sat here in shorts and t-shirt). We had our first frost in Chch and it is noticeable the difference in temperature.

They’ve already been having snow in Queenstown so they are expecting it to be a good ski season.

I recently bought an elliptical exercise machine. I need to loose about 15Kgs, so with a little help and better eating it should all be possible. My mate up here, from Iceland, has been doing the same and has lost 12Kg over 3 or 4 months. Have a look here for some of his hilariously funny videos www.ginfan.com – Most of it will be in Icelandic but you should find your way around. Anyhow he’s about 42 but looks 32. If you see the before and after shots you’ll be astounded, and probably aching from all the laughing.

Anyhow this comes back round to age and getting older. Things start to go wrong after you are thirty. They never tell you this at school and quite frankly you probably wouldn’t believe them anyhow. — Before thirty things break or get damaged – typically you recover or things repair. This is probably compounded by the age old problem of men and doctors. I assume I’m pretty typical in that I will save up ailments etc and go to the doctor when I generally have three things I’m not happy with.

As I’ve been doing the exercising I’ve had my checkup. My Kidneys are a bit dodgy apparently. Not really sure what is wrong suffice to say I’ve been told to hydrate more. People who know me will remember that I HATE drinking water as I don’t really like the taste (crap excuse I know). Anyhow I’ve decided that I’ll start drinking gallons of the stuff from now on.

Then there are lumps. Lumps are an interesting thing I suppose I’ve had a couple for while, I suppose bean or pea sized in nature – Nothing major or untoward. It’s something I haven’t really bothered about until exercising. It then dawned on me they could be something, hey! I thought they could be blood clots and if I exercised to much they would dislodge and give me a heart attack. ) They are not so I’m happy on that front. The fact they could be something else is not comforting either. The doctors are not 100% sure so they have advised I get them removed. EEeeeeeK!

This then brings on another dilemma that you don’t really think of.

As a child you don’t care about much. I suppose as you have very little knowledge or learning you do not worry about the future as you relative short life has nothing to compare to. So the thought of going under the knife is kind of no issue. YET, the older you get the more you know and the more you want to see. Going under the knife starts having a different feel to it. So as you can guess it’s not something I relish the thought of……..
Either way don’t worry!

Anyhow I forgot to put the following recipe up a couple of weeks ago. Try it! It’s worth it.

Mexican Guacamole by Mr Fito Pons [a real Mexican]
Avocados (seems to taste better with those you’ve picked yourself off the tree)Tomatoes, Chillies, Onion, Salt
Simple really; Put the ripe avos into a bowl with finely chopped chillies, onions & tomatoes. Mix and mash up, adding a little salt to taste. Enjoy!

Tastes superb
