So it’s the twelfth of December. I’ve been here now for nearly five months. Life is good. I feel fit and a lot happier than I have been for years. My outlook on life is even better than ever. I have yet to have chance to stop as everything is social over here.
Billy Connelly was on tv the other day. He was in Plymouth and having his portrait done by Robert Lenckowich (sorry about the spelling). It reminds you of the little things you miss. These include my friends, family and old work colleagues. Liam will be over soon for Xmas so it should be fun to show him around my new ‘home’. Of course there are things you don’t miss….. traffic and the dull light of winter is one of them. Although I drive three hours to work over here I will pass less than a hundred cars on the way.
Xmas is a very strange affair; summer is not a time for it. Fortunately it’s not really overdone here and it’s quite easy to miss. Although the concept of a Xmas parade on a hot summers day is a strange one to behold.
I have some great friends; ranging from pilots, helicopter mechanics & welders. They all enjoy the outdoors and don’t hesitate to spend a weekend or a couple of days out in the middle of nowhere, in places even most Kiwis have not been. I guess I’ve been lucky to meet some great people, who are so friendly. People over here are more than happy to ‘share’ their friends, a concept that i guess is lost in the UK.
Anyhow, it’s late and it’s just gone dark. It’s now 10pm and time for bed.
….. and of course If I don’t get chance before hand -
Have a Great Xmas Everyone & a Happy New Year
